A Building Permit is an official approval required before starting most types of building work. It ensures that the proposed construction complies with the Building Act, Building Regulations and Building Code.
You need a Building Permit for new construction, renovations, extensions, demolitions, and many other building-related activities. Some minor works, like small fences or garden sheds, may be exempt, but it’s best to check with us.
Simply complete our Building Permit application form and submit it with supporting documents like architectural drawings, engineering reports, planning permits, and any other relevant paperwork. Applications can be lodged via email or in person at our office.
We aim to assess all applications within one week of receipt. If your documentation is complete and satisfactory, the permit can be issued promptly. If additional information is required, we will provide a detailed list to help you prepare.
No. Building without a permit is illegal and can result in fines or orders to remove non-compliant work. Always obtain your permit before commencing any construction.
